What is the purpose of this qualification?
Btec Level 3 National Diploma is equivalent in size to two A levels, which has been designed to occupy two-thirds of a full-time curriculum, enabling learners to develop a significant common core of knowledge, including investigating the travel and tourism sector, the business of travel and tourism and the UK as a destination, and providing extensive opportunity to study in more depth a range of optional areas of their choice. This qualification is designed to :
- Give full-time learners the opportunity to enter employment in the travel and tourism sector or to progress to vocational qualifications such as the Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Travel and Tourism
- Give learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.
What does this qualification cover?
The Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism is a 120-credit qualification that consists of four mandatory units plus optional units that provide for a combined total of 120 credits (where at least 90 credits must be at Level 3 or above).
The 4 mandatory units are :
Unit 01: Investigating the Travel and Tourism Sector (credit10)
Unit 02: The Business of Travel and Tourism (credit10)
Unit 03: The UK as a Destination (credit10)
Unit 04: Customer Service in Travel and Tourism (credit10)
The optional units will be chosen between yourself and your assessor.
How is this qualification assessed?
This qualification is assessed through internal assessment by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods (written assignments, practical tasks, portfolio of evidence, centre devised assessments etc).

This qualification is for all learners aged 16-18 and 19+ who are capable of reaching the required standards .This course is especially designed for those who have a keen interest in the Travel and Tourism Sector.
What could this qualification lead to?
Learners who have achieved the Level 3 National Diploma can progress to the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism.
